Billing

Velixir is metered by usage and billed against a prepaid balance. There's no monthly subscription; you top up an amount you're comfortable with and the platform draws against it.

Where the money goes

Resources are billed hourly:

  • Apps - per replica × the replica's plan rate. Autoscaled apps bill exactly for the replicas they're actually running.
  • Databases - per database, per the plan's hourly rate. HA databases bill both instances.
  • Caches - same model.
  • Warm-standby slots - billed at a small flat rate per slot per month while running. Pausable.

Bandwidth is unmetered. Inbound and outbound traffic are both free, with no egress fees and no per-GB data-transfer meter. A soft fair-use guideline of around 10 TB of outbound traffic per app per month (scaling with your plan) keeps one workload from crowding out shared edge capacity; it isn't a hard cap, and we'll always reach out before it affects you rather than throttling or billing automatically.

Free credit

New accounts get €14.99 in trial credit after adding a payment method - covers a Starter + Postgres Starter + Valkey Starter for the first month.

Topping up

Sidebar BillingAdd funds. We use Stripe - your card details never touch Velixir servers. Top-ups are non-refundable but never expire.

Recommended balance: at least a month's worth of expected spend. If your balance hits €0, apps are paused after a short grace period. They resume automatically when you top up.

Who can change billing

Only Owners and Admins can open the Stripe portal, top up, or change roles. Members see the billing dashboard read-only - useful for "how much credit have we got left?" without giving them card access.

Invoices

Stripe issues an invoice for every top-up. They're available in the Stripe Customer Portal (linked from the Billing page) and emailed to the team's billing email.

Low-balance alerts

We send an email to all Owners and Admins when the balance drops below ~7 days of projected spend. A second nudge goes out at ~1 day. After that, apps are paused.
