Log drains: send app logs to Grafana or Datadog
Send every app's logs to Grafana Cloud, Datadog, Axiom, Better Stack or any OpenTelemetry endpoint, seconds after they're written. Free on every plan.
If your team already lives in Grafana or Datadog, a hosting dashboard with its own log viewer is one more tab to check at 2am.
Log drains send every line your apps write to the tool you already use:
- OpenTelemetry, over OTLP/HTTP, for Grafana Cloud, Honeycomb and anything else that speaks it
- Datadog
- Axiom
- Better Stack
- Your own HTTPS endpoint, as newline-delimited JSON
Each line arrives a few seconds after it's written, tagged with the app, slot, process (web, a worker or a cron job) and deployment, so you can filter on them in the tool.
How do I set one up?
Add a drain under Team settings for every app on the team, or narrow it to one. Press Test and a line is sent straight away, so you know the key works before you need it.
What if my log tool goes down?
Your app doesn't notice. If a drain stops answering, its lines are buffered and then dropped rather than slowing anything down. Your tokens are stored encrypted and never shown again, and a drain only goes to public HTTPS addresses.
Log drains are free on every plan. The log drains docs have the setup for each tool.
